What ever.but SOUND BLASTER is one of the best soundcard i ever know. But what year is it?i mean what year you made this video? Oh wow i didnt know my soundblaster was even more special than i already tought of it!!! The Hercules seems very integrated compared to the sound blaster, I’m not sure when my sound blaster was made but my Hercules is from 2002 Hey Phil, I have a sound blaster live sb0060, I’ve been using it for years for doom midi and other games that support eax, though I’ve just recently bought a Hercules gamesurround muse xl, the Hercules has Yamaha xg synth as well, for some reason the Hercules sounds clearer and has cleaner audio over the sound blaster especially in midi it’s very noticeable, it’s slightly annoying me as to why. What about PCI 128? You have not done a review with that yet. I really appreciate and I follow you always, and I take inspiration from your works. So please, what can I do? Thanks for all what you are doing for us retro-gaming retro-hardware lovers. I didn't know if from bios I have to set the PCI where the sound card is to 10, I tried but it doesn't worked. After I put them in the LIVEDOS directory, I start typing "liveinit", but I receive the answer that error:could not configure PCI port. The problem is that I cannot load correctly the DOS drivers.
I have a Pentium 3 machine, Pmhz, Asus CUV266, 512MB DDR RAM (2x256), and a Radeon 9800PRO in which system I select to put the Sound Blaster Live! SB0100 that you tried for us, for maximum compatibility in Windows 98SE and DOS mode of operating system. How do I determine whether this is an OEM or a Retail card?Įhy I am having a problem: I hope you can resolve it for me. Thinking of getting it although I feel the price is quite steep (alas I come from a 3rd world nation). Hello! I found a SB Live (SB0100) in a local shop today for equivalent to $34 USD (local currency). I could not for the life of me, get my Sound Blaster Live! SB0200 installed correctly.
When you install a creative soundcard driver the sound scheme on windows will changed to a creative technology sound scheme Hyper3d pinball also requires the CD to be in the drive, since its playing some music during the game play using the CDROM drive. I have seen your DOS starter pack with a lot of different boot up options, and I wondered if using that, and choose an option for EMM386,and then let it boot into the DOS mode and run the Hyper 3d pinball. Will the Creative SB Live cards work with Hyper3d pinball in DOS mode (from the Windows 98 machine). Is the MIDI setup thing required for the Soundblaster 16 emulation that comes with the Live! card?ĮDIT: I am asking because there's no FX sound in Doom on this card for whatever reason. I remember it being extra ordinary compared to the yamaha opl3 SAX I had.ĭo you only have to launch the live.init once or every time you want to play a DOS game? for a "project" as the mobo has no onboard sound and I cant find my usb one.Ĭant see it happening now, but for nostalgia, I did buy the card brand new at the time. I'm here because I was trying to get this card running on Windows server 2019. Downloaded the driver packages from your site already :)ĮDIT: Works without any problems, just like Audigy. Thanks, very informative and instructive. This looks good - i just bought a SB Live PCI card but have been worried if i'd get it to work under DOS which is what i really want with my Win98 machine. omg good old ISA SBpro2 with set io, dma, irq.
I ask because i did not see you install dos drivers in the video and i'm really not sure how to do that.
should i install cd drivers (wdm) and then update vxd? Will it give me dos sound in win? Edit: is there any way to have sound in dosgames in windows (running them through shell)? And if not, how to install and set drivers so i can play with sound at least from ms-dos prompt (restart windows in ms-dos) with mpu-401 (general midi/fm does not sound good, except for dune2 for example, i always play it with sound-blaster music). i used your vxd drivers, it installed (btw no doom sound, only music) but after installing the second device (i believe it was gameport) it bluescreened and bricked.
Hey Phil, just ran into an issue that bricked my win98se. Hello! Where I find drivers for windows 7/10 for ct4830 model? Do you happen to know any definitive answers on that? I have a SB0220 - I've searched around and found a lot of contradicting information regarding SB0220's difference to SB0100 like the former apparently lacking any DOS compatibility. Would you consider adding some DOS Star Wars games (Dark Forces, Tie Fighter, etc) to your testing portfolio? These are popular and do tend to have some issues with SB Live, especially on faster systems (P4 for example) especially when using general midi.
